Children’s illustrated books delight me.
More often than not, I would believe these books meant for children hold concepts
too profound for them understand. Emotions that run too deep for them to appreciate.
Sentiments of ‘adults’.
Greed. Loneliness. Ownership. Rebellion. Grief. Love.
But it all makes sense.
When you read a story to a kid, there are questions.
You answer the questions not for their understanding alone, but also for your realisation.
They become clearer in your head, too.
And wouldn’t we be a different lot if we grew up understanding and appreciating
the many emotional experiences and lessons life throws at us?
I share a few of my favourite ones here, at Lil Book Place.
